Weekly Wrap-Up (August 6)

Oh boy, what a week it’s been. A cold and frustrating one.

For those who don’t know or don’t quite understand what’s going on, I’ve been having Twitter problems. I will sometimes get notified if someone shares my posts. Sometimes! If I share your post, you won’t get notified. If I like a tweet, nothing. If I comment on a tweet, nothing. You won’t see any of it unless you’re glued to your feed like a hawk. Basically, as Mairead so nicely put it, some of us are pissing in the wind.

I first noticed it on Tuesday when, as I do every morning, I shared all the blog posts that had arrived in my inbox overnight. I had a busy day that day and also spent a few hours reading so I didn’t notice until late afternoon that I didn’t have a single notification. So unless everyone all of a sudden decided to stop liking my tweets and thanking me, something was obviously not right.

So, until this is sorted out, I’ve stopped sharing your posts. Believe me, I feel absolutely awful about that! But since nobody is seeing them anyway, or if you do then I don’t know about it, there doesn’t seem to be much point. I was hoping that reducing the traffic on my twitter might solve this somehow but since more and more people have been affected as the week went on, that doesn’t seem very likely.

Twitter DM does work, thankfully. If you need me for anything, you can reach me there or via email and Facebook.

I want to thank you all for sharing my posts as widely as possible. I was on a few blog tours and cover reveals this past week and I hope that those who needed to see that, actually did. It would suck hard if this were to affect what little reputation I have. You’re an incredibly supportive bunch and I feel truly privileged to be part of this wonderful community. Thank you! ❤️

Special shout-out to Vicky @ Cosybooks, Meggy @ Chocolate ‘n’ Waffles and Deanna @ Dee’s Rad Reads and Reviews for trying to salvage what little is left of my sanity! 💕

Anyway, this has all affected my reading as I’ve been spending quite a lot of time on Facebook of all places with other book bloggers who are in the same boat. It has also really brought home how important Twitter is for the book blogging community and how isolated you can feel when that means of communication is taken away from you. Who knew?

If you’re still reading (wow! and also why? 😂), onwards with the wrap-up.

Books I read this week :

Only five. Although I am about 70% into what would have been the sixth one if I hadn’t spent an entire afternoon chatting to the awesome Meggy! 😄

Books I bought this week :

Self-imposed book buying ban still working like a charm, obviously!

ARC’s received via Netgalley :

Still at 92% but with currently only 2 books on my shelf, I’m apparently not doing this right. 😄

No book post this week. It’s becoming increasingly obvious to me that I should move to the UK. 😄

On the blog this past week :

Busy busy BUSY!!!!! Good grief! I need a holiday!

Monday : I reviewed They All Fall Down

Tuesday : I was on the blog tours for Little Bird and Reality Rehab and did my first ever cover reveal for Tracy Bloom’s new book.

Wednesday : Another blog tour, this time for Her Deadly Secret

Thursday : Guest reviewer Christine shared her thoughts on A Mind to Kill and I joined another cover reveal for Caroline Mitchell’s new book in the Ruby Preston series.

Friday : I was on the blog tour for Girls in the Water

Saturday : You guessed it, another blog tour. This one for The Woman in the Shadows. And I had another cover reveal for Vivian Conroy’s Lady Alkmene series.

Sunday : Shared my review for Perfect Prey

Next week on noveldeelights :

Who the heck knows? 😂

In other news, I’ve been changing my name all over the place. Dee is a nickname that I’ve  been using for years, both in “real life” and online. It’s actually just the initial of my middle name (Diane in case you were wondering). But people were getting increasingly confused as Dee isn’t part of my address. So to avoid said confusion, I’ve decided to revert to my official name, which is Eva (pronounced Ava). Hi, nice to meet you. 😉. Feel free to keep calling me Dee or Thingy or Whoosit or Chick or Chum. Whatever floats your boat as long as it’s not something rude 😜

My twitter handle has changed to @noveldeelights. In case you thought I’d disappeared, I haven’t.

Pretty sure this is the longest wrap-up ever. If you’ve read all of that, treat yourself to something fabulous! I’m off to sit in the sunshine, drink some wine and continue my countdown to my Tuscan holiday.

Wishing you all the most fabulous week and lots of happy reading! xx
