This Week in Books (15th March, 2023)

Hosted by Lipsy Lost and Found, my Wednesday post gives you a taste of what I’m reading this week. A similar meme is run by Taking on a World of Words.

LAST BOOK I FINISHED READING

At first glance, Jellicoe Close seems to be a perfect suburban street – well-kept houses with pristine lawns, neighbours chatting over garden fences, children playing together.

But there are dark secrets behind the neat front doors, hidden dangers that include a ruthless criminal who will stop at nothing.

It’s up to DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent to uncover the truth. Posing as a couple, they move into the Close, blurring the lines between professional and personal as never before.

And while Maeve and Josh try to gather the evidence they need, they have no idea of the danger they face – because someone in Jellicoe Close has murder on their mind.

[I love this series so much, and this is another fabulous addition!]

THE BOOK I’M CURRENTLY READING

Retired schoolteachers Liz, Pat and Thelma never expected they would be caught up in a crime even once in their lives, let alone twice.

But when poison pen letters start landing on the doorsteps of friends and neighbours in their Yorkshire village, old secrets come to light.

With the potential for deadly consequences.

It won’t be long until the three friends are out on a case yet again…

[No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. This is indeed cosy crime. I really enjoyed the first one in this series and I couldn’t wait to hang out with these ladies again.]

WHAT I’M (PROBABLY) READING NEXT

Sally Diamond cannot understand why what she did was so strange. She was only doing what her father told her to do, to put him out with the rubbish when he died.

Now Sally is the centre of attention, not only from the hungry media and worried police, but also a sinister voice from a past she has no memory of. As she begins to discover the horrors of her childhood, recluse Sally steps into the world for the first time, making new friends, finding independence, and learning that people don’t always mean what they say.

But when messages start arriving from a stranger who knows far more about her past than she knows herself, Sally’s life will be thrown into chaos once again.

[I’ve heard so many good things about this one that I can’t wait to get started!]

That’s what I’m reading this week? What about you? Do let me know and I wish you lots of happy reading! xx

Such a fabulous series by Jane Casey. And I don’t even like the whole “will they, won’t they” thing. 😄

Intrigued by Strange Sally Diamond… I’ve not done a TWiB post as things haven’t moved on a great deal since this time last week… 😬
