Some of my most anticipated books of 2023

New year, new books to get excited about! While all the while ignoring the bajillion that remain on bookshelves or digital readers.

Some of you may remember that I did this last year as well. In hindsight, I’m not entirely sure it was such a good idea because the overwhelming feeling ended up being disappointment. A few are so far still unread, some were great, some were not. Maybe my expectations were just too high. Who knows?

So clearly I’m doing it again this year 😏.

This list is in no way complete, obviously. I’m guessing there is a lot coming, some we don’t even know about yet. Some authors publishing new books this year are Kate Simants, Harlan Coben, Riley Sager, Alex North (2 even, apparently!), Alison Weir and I’m keeping everything crossed for the eighth book in the Shardlake series by CJ Sansom!

As always, I have to the draw the line somewhere because I can’t list everything. These are the ones that are currently on my radar. Listed by publication day for hardback format, as that is my own preferred format, with links to Goodreads if you want to find out more about them.

I’ve read The Drift and The Dead Of Winter . Will be intrigued to hear your thoughts. Quite a few of those on my list too. Looking forward to the new Mark Billingham and rumours of another Ambrose Parry but not sure if it will be out this year.

I’m always intrigued to hear my thoughts too. They’re often surprising 😉😂. I purchased The Drift and The Dead of Winter so it’s going to be a while yet until I can read them. Books are ever so slow to be delivered lately. Hadn’t heard the rumours about Ambrose Parry but I’ll be keeping an eye out and hopefully I will have read the previous one before the new one arrives 🙄.

I say rumour … I only know about it as was at a panel with Chris Brookmyre on and he said they’re working on it 🤣

This is an excellent list. I can’t wait for Elektra by Jennifer Saint and Children of the Sun by Beth Lewis 📚

Doesn’t it just?! And by Elektra I obviously meant Atalanta – Elektra was 2022! #KeepUp

😂. I did think Elektra sounded familiar but since I haven’t been keeping up with these myth retellings I just assumed it was me. You could have gotten away with this mistake, Jo 😂.

We don’t get it here so I can’t watch anyway but I was surprised when I saw the trailer because it doesn’t feel/seem like Will at all.

Thanks to NetGalley, I have Exiles and The Close and hope to read them soon, and I’ve requested The Square of Sevens but haven’t had a yay or nay yet. Thanks for the heads up on the Mazzola! I wasn’t aware of it and will now be eagerly awaiting it! Happy reading!

Added one to your TBR, so I’m incredibly pleased with myself 😁.

I’m hoping to read Exiles as soon as I’ve made a bit of a dent in this doorstopper I’m currently reading.

This list is SO bad for my TBR haha. I have a few of these as ARCs, others are high high high on my wishlist. And how didn’t I know that M.W. Craven is having a new series coming out?!

What a great line up of books, Eva. I did not know there was a new Will Trent book coming out, so thanks for the heads up. There are several others that I will be adding to my TBR.
