Does anyone even understand how it is May already?
April was just doing its thing, being all chill. We had some lovely sunshine-y days, did some pottering in the garden (my neighbours keep removing trees so I keep adding them 💁🏼♀️), read a little, nothing of much importance.
Then the final week, my MIL decided to have some kind of liver/gallbladder crisis and landed herself in hospital, where we weren’t allowed to visit because she also tested positive for covid. She’s home again now but there’s definitely a surgery in her very near future.
Millie is doing well. Eating, drinking and generally making a mess. Listening quite well when she wants to, digging holes in the garden, chasing birds, barking at the neighbours (which I’ll hopefully manage to stop her from doing soon) and being rather sad when the neighbourhood cats don’t want to play with her.
Also, discovering new things. At once brave and nearly wetting herself but she does it. Also, also, stealing things. That rainbow coloured mat in the right picture is one of those mats you kneel on when you’re gardening. Let’s just say, we don’t have one of those anymore 😂.
Please ignore the horrible condition of our lawn That would also be Millie’s doing. 😳
On to the books!
WHAT I READ IN APRIL
I’ll take that. I’ve had worse months. Having you guys vote in my weekly Wednesday poll is a definitely a big help so I’ll probably keep that going 😊
BOOK OF THE MONTH
Some excellent books this month but Six Graves scored the only 5 star rating and is hence the book of the month. See how that works? 😏
WHAT I BOUGHT IN APRIL
Looks like I’m getting the hang of this buy-less-books malarkey. Just about enough to keep the withdrawal symptoms under control 😉. Haven’t read a single one of them yet though.
RECEIVED FOR REVIEW
With thanks to the publishers.
WHAT I’VE BEEN WATCHING
White Collar : Finished re-watching this and enjoyed it very much. Turns out I did in fact watch all the seasons all those years ago but it was fun to watch them again. Willy Garson, you are missed!
Anatomy of a Scandal : Based on the book by Sarah Vaughan, I binge-watched all six episodes in one afternoon. So, so good and the cast is truly phenomenal.
Criminal Minds : Definitely did not watch all the seasons of this one when it first aired but since I can’t remember where I left off I decided to go back to the beginning. Currently very much enjoying season one.

COMING UP ON THE BLOG IN MAY
I have a few ARCs due but other than that, I’m not entirely sure yet. I might take a bit of a break since the other half will be taking some time off work this month and I have quite a long list of “things what need doing” for him, which obviously need my supervision 😏
And that’s a wrap! Until next time, I wish you all lots of happy reading and I hope May is kind to all of us. xx
