And that’s a wrap for … April

Does anyone even understand how it is May already?

April was just doing its thing, being all chill. We had some lovely sunshine-y days, did some pottering in the garden (my neighbours keep removing trees so I keep adding them πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ), read a little, nothing of much importance.

Then the final week, my MIL decided to have some kind of liver/gallbladder crisis and landed herself in hospital, where we weren’t allowed to visit because she also tested positive for covid. She’s home again now but there’s definitely a surgery in her very near future.

Millie is doing well. Eating, drinking and generally making a mess. Listening quite well when she wants to, digging holes in the garden, chasing birds, barking at the neighbours (which I’ll hopefully manage to stop her from doing soon) and being rather sad when the neighbourhood cats don’t want to play with her.

Also, discovering new things. At once brave and nearly wetting herself but she does it. Also, also, stealing things. That rainbow coloured mat in the right picture is one of those mats you kneel on when you’re gardening. Let’s just say, we don’t have one of those anymore πŸ˜‚.

Please ignore the horrible condition of our lawn That would also be Millie’s doing. 😳

On to the books!

WHAT I READ IN APRIL

I’ll take that. I’ve had worse months. Having you guys vote in my weekly Wednesday poll is a definitely a big help so I’ll probably keep that going 😊

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Some excellent books this month but Six Graves scored the only 5 star rating and is hence the book of the month. See how that works? 😏

WHAT I BOUGHT IN APRIL

Looks like I’m getting the hang of this buy-less-books malarkey. Just about enough to keep the withdrawal symptoms under control πŸ˜‰. Haven’t read a single one of them yet though.

RECEIVED FOR REVIEW

With thanks to the publishers.

WHAT I’VE BEEN WATCHING

White Collar : Finished re-watching this and enjoyed it very much. Turns out I did in fact watch all the seasons all those years ago but it was fun to watch them again. Willy Garson, you are missed!

Anatomy of a Scandal : Based on the book by Sarah Vaughan, I binge-watched all six episodes in one afternoon. So, so good and the cast is truly phenomenal.

Criminal Minds : Definitely did not watch all the seasons of this one when it first aired but since I can’t remember where I left off I decided to go back to the beginning. Currently very much enjoying season one.

ON THE BLOG IN APRIL

Review : The Darkest Sin by D.V. Bishop
Review : It Ends At Midnight by Harriet Tyce
Review : The Last House on the Street by Diane Chamberlain
Review : First Born by Will Dean
Review : Begars Abbey by V.L. Valentine
Review : Snakes and Ladders by Victoria Selman

Mini Reviews : Nothing Else by Louise Beech / The Match by Harlan Coben

Good thing I do those weekly Wednesday posts so it almost looks as if I’m being productive 😳

COMING UP ON THE BLOG IN MAY

I have a few ARCs due but other than that, I’m not entirely sure yet. I might take a bit of a break since the other half will be taking some time off work this month and I have quite a long list of “things what need doing” for him, which obviously need my supervision 😏

And that’s a wrap! Until next time, I wish you all lots of happy reading and I hope May is kind to all of us. xx

Hope your mother-in-law is feeling better.
We’re in the process of a garden make over with artificial turf. Grass and our dogs don’t mix very well at all πŸ˜‚ Millie’s looking good though πŸ’š

I see you know exactly what I mean πŸ˜‚. We aren’t fans of the artificial grass so we’ll just leave the lawn as it is and quietly hope she’ll stop all this crazy running soon. I know, who the hell am I kidding 🀣

Best wishes to your MIL, I hope she’s feeling better. Even despite Millie’s efforts your lawn looks better than ours!
Another good bookish month for you, you’ve read twice as much as me.😁

      She’s getting there, thank you!

Shall I send her over? Maybe she’ll improve it for you. πŸ˜‚

This looks like a good month books and reading wise – long may it continue! Also, I really need to watch Anatomy of a Scandal – I’ve heard good things!

I think you’ll really enjoy Anatomy, Jo! It’s one of those series that actually does the book justice and we know how rare those are.

It’s great having a pet you can blame everything on, isn’t it? πŸ˜‰ 🐢😼

True! In fact, come to think of it, our dishwasher broke. I’m pretty sure she did that too 😏.

I’m sorry to hear about your MIL! Millie seems to be doing better; that photo of her stealing that mat is precious. xD Your lawn is looking pretty well for having a dog though; you should see the pathetic patch of grass in our garden haha.
