And that’s a wrap for … March

According to the calendar it is April and I have no idea how that happened.

A few days ago, we were sitting outside in the glorious sunshine with short sleeves. Today, however, as I type this, it’s snowing. WTF. Clearly Mother Nature suffers from hormonal moods as well.

And unfortunately, the war in Ukraine rages on. The news from the last few days is absolutely horrendous and heartbreaking. I’m afraid words of condemnation and a few sanctions will not make a difference. May peace come soon for the people of Ukraine.

So many other things seem so trivial but as the cliché says, life goes on.

We took Millie to see a new vet. Our previous one, who was amazing with Yoshi, sold her practice and now does house visits only and that’s something that just doesn’t work with Millie. Our home is her safe haven and the vet is an intruder. Last time the vet tried to cut Millie’s nails, hubby’s t-shirt (and stomach) was pretty much scratched to shreds. With this vet? Not a care in the world. Sure, she’s afraid, what else is new. But all in all, it went really well. Vaccinations all done and good to go.

Not much progress with anything else, really. But the vet told us we might need to adjust our expectations of her and just accept that she will probably always be a scared, not social dog. Like me, I guess. The not being social part of that sentence, obviously.

Anywho! Here is Millie, enjoying the sunshine.

On to the books!

WHAT I READ IN MARCH

I was off to such a great start at the beginning of the year and then … poof. Anyway, so that’s 9 and a short story and those don’t count 😜. Some surprises, both good and bad, but all in all a good month’s reading.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

It’s just that good, that even when it took me a while to pick it up again, it’s still the best book I read this month. I will try to write a review at some point. Honestly.

WHAT I BOUGHT IN MARCH

Look at that. Scary, eh? Technically, that’s four because Firstborn is a short story, which I already read. I’ve also already read two others as well and I’m nearly finished with a third. I can see you’re all impressed. 😏

RECEIVED FOR REVIEW

With thanks to the publishers!

WHAT I’VE BEEN WATCHING

Pieces of Her : I only watched two episodes. I forgot how annoying Andy was and I just couldn’t take it any more.

White Collar : I watched this years ago but I don’t think I watched it to the very end and since all the seasons are now available for streaming, I figured I’d have a look. Still entertaining and there’s a lot I don’t remember. Plus Matt Bomer is quite pleasing to the eye.

Bridgerton : My lovely friend Rae was so enthusiastic about season 1 that I couldn’t resist having a wee peek, even though it’s so not my thing. And yet, I ended up binge-watching the whole season and just like Rae, I’ve been counting down the months to season 2. I don’t even recognise myself anymore. 🤷🏼‍♀️

There was also about 15-20 minutes of Death on the Nile where I mostly yawned a lot, before deciding not to watch the rest because it’s just not that good, really.

ON THE BLOG IN MARCH

Review : Reputation by Sarah Vaughan
Review : Twelve Secrets by Robert Gold
Review : Death in the Sunshine by Steph Broadribb
Review : A Spoonful of Murder by J.M. Hall

Not exactly impressive, is it? 😳

COMING UP ON THE BLOG IN APRIL

I only have one date set in stone, which is my stop on the blog tour for Will Dean’s First Born, but I do also have one or two Netgalley ARCs due so hopefully I’ll actually post those around publication day for a change 😄.

And that’s it for March! I hope April treats us all well. Until next time! xx

I’ve just finished City of Vengeance and looking forward to reading the next Aldo book. It’s been very bizarre weather, we missed the snow but have had very frosty mornings but sat out in gorgeous sun in the afternoons. Makes no sense 😳😂

I saw that! But I got sidetracked by you feeling poopy 🤣. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

Mother Nature is definitely throwing a hissy fit, but lovely to see Millie enjoying the sunshine. Hopefully she’ll relax more as time goes on and she realises she’s safe. At least she’s not a battering ram like my dog. He barrelled into the side of my leg at whatever miles an hour he was doing and left me with a fractured tibia 🤨 He might be up for rehoming soon… 😉

No?! Really? Yikes! I mean, you know, clearly you were in the way 💁🏼‍♀️🤣

My legs are “merely” bruised as Millie likes to nip at them playfully, which to be frank doesn’t feel playful at all 😂

I was definitely in the way…but I won’t be again!!

I know the nipping scenario as well…you don’t fancy adopting another dog by any chance 🤔😂

Funny you should say that because it is something we’ve been considering. Not entirely sure I’d like the battering ram though 🤔😂.

Ah well, doesn’t hurt to ask 😉 😂
Good luck if you do decide to go ahead.

In that case here mother nature is always in rage as I can feel the rising heat and I’m pretty sure it will go out of control in April. Millie looks so peaceful enjoying the sunshine. Have amazing April.

Well as I don’t like the look of Bridgerton at all maybe I might enjoy Death on the Nile instead! :/ Lovely picks of Millie, as always!

What’s putting you off about Bridgerton? I mean, hello, least romantic person in the world totally hooked on this thing *waves* 😂. If you do watch Death on the Nile I’d love to know what you made of it.

I’m not big on that time period and it looked too over the top! I’ve watched about an hour of Death on the Nile, and although it’s beautifully shot there’s no oomph to it, if you know what I mean? 😂

Okay, okay, I’ve put City of Vengeance on my list – happy now?? The vet might be right about Millie. My boy Tommy had a bad accident when he was very young and it made him feel very vulnerable and insecure, and he’s never really regained his confidence with people. I’m the only human he’s truly relaxed with, which is nice but also a bit burdensome since I can’t go away and leave him with anyone else. Just as well I’m happy staying home and reading!

Very happy, yes, thank you 😁. I would of course be a lot more happier if you enjoy it but this will do for now.

I can so relate and I don’t mind one bit at all either. Poor Millie doesn’t realise but she’s been used as an excuse to say “no, can’t come” too many times to count already. I feel for your Tommy though. Glad he has you.

It’s good to see Millie enjoying the sunshine! And I had Bridgerton series down as a ‘no way’, but now you’ve made me curious haha. Here’s to April treating you well! xx
