Hello, hi! Still alive! Sorry to disappoint you π
Time to say goodbye to September. A long, long, really long month. Did I mention long? A month not spent in my beloved Tuscany but at home where Summer was extremely hormonal and there was no peace or quiet to be found. A whole month, THIRTY DAYS, with the ball and chain from morning until evening. It’s enough to drive any sane person completely nuts, so you can imagine what it did to me I’m sure π.
But I know you all don’t really care about that, so here is Millie.
Millie has discovered she quite likes being in the car. Especially when she can shove her nose out of the window. Unfortunately also, so far, it requires me sitting in the backseat. Which is fine, I don’t mind. Until she uses me as a trampoline to be able to get to the window. I’ve lost count of the bruises on my legs. This is definitely not a lapdog anymore! π
We tried to do one of those fancy-schmanchy photoshoots. It did not go so well. I swear this dog has ADHD π. I’m very easily distracted but she is on an entirely different level! Still, we managed at least one decent picture. (Yes, that is my garden. You can almost imagine there’s nobody else around, can’t you?)
We also went for long walks in the woods. Who even knew a few months ago that would work? We certainly didn’t. It’s not all going as it should, mind. She’s fine, sniffing, alert but relaxed when it’s just us. But as soon as we encounter another person, she starts to struggle against the lead and then just sits her bum down and refuses to move until “the danger has passed”. I get it. I’m not a people person either π. After that, we are no longer walking but doing this weird not-quite-running thing, which I’m sure will have me faceplant in the mud at some point this season π³.
There was also a visit to the doggie groomer’s and a playdate with the doggie groomer’s dog, which was super fun. For the dogs, not so much for me. I was actually waiting in the car. The other half forgot I was there. Thank goodness I had a book! FFS π. Things are moving forward incredibly impressively with the mother-in-law, which is nice to see. Millie will come off the sofa when MIL is here, and last Sunday she even took a little snack from MIL’s hand. On the other hand, I heard her growl for the first time and that was aimed at the father-in-law. I get that one also ππ€£.
The baby-steps are continuing. It’s a slow process and it’ll take time and patience and lots of love but she’s so worth it.
Anywho, on to the books!
WHAT I READ IN SEPTEMBER
Not that impressive but it’s another ten under my belt and I’ll take it. It’s definitely more than I usually read in September π
WHAT I BOUGHT IN SEPTEMBER
I am making a conscious effort to buy less books. Nine is completely reasonable, right?π€
RECEIVED FOR REVIEW
Since we now have to pay extortionate amounts of money for book post, I have rediscovered the black hole that is Netgalley. This will not end well. Huge thanks to the publishers for approving my requests!
And that’s a wrap for September. Time to embrace autumn.
Until next time! xx
Thank you for that wonderful update on dear Millieπ Youβve done a remarkable job with her. Love your comment about your FILβ¦you made me laugh out loudπ€£

A fun update π So glad Millie’s making good progress (and hasn’t she grown!) and you haven’t disappeared forever π The woods look like a great place to walk and I love your shoes!

She has grown so much, yes. But we think sheβs done now. Fingers crossed π. The woods are lovely, especially this time of year even though Iβm not a fan of Autumn. Love my shoes. Not good for doggie hiking though π€£

I love Autumn ππ
No, I guess walking boots are better for hiking π They look good though!

Millie’s looking good and a bit like a Great Dane in your garden which looks lovely! Loving the look of the Tuesday Club Murders is that a reissue?

It is. Itβs part of that special edition series Harper Collins has been doing. Shame they opted for the American title, though. The UK title is The Thirteen Problems.
Itβs because she keeps her ears so flat. When she had them up, she looks so different!

I think so too. Much prettier than her siblings. Don’t tell them I said that π
