I can’t for the life of me understand how September has already arrived. Summer is over and it feels like we didn’t have one at all. It’s been rather chilly and miserable, feeling more like Autumn than anything else. September is normally my favourite month of the year. Not so much this time around and I miss my beloved Tuscany dearly.
The other half is home for the entire month. For the love of all things holy, help me 😱! I was already plotting a murder halfway through day one 🤣. We’ve been looking into maybe going away for a week or so closer to home but so far our search has been fruitless and we’re about ready to throw in the towel and accept, begrudgingly, that we will just have to stay home.
As for the neighbour I ranted about last month, the good news is she’s moving in December. The bad news is that until then we apparently just have to suck it up that she’s making all this noise because she can’t do it anywhere else and she’s just started a furniture restoration business. Good grief. From a garden that doesn’t have enough room to swing a cat in?! I pointed out to the other half that we shouldn’t have to suck up anything since what she’s doing isn’t allowed but he said it’s the best he could do. So basically, diplomacy gets you nowhere. Good to know 🤔😂.
Here comes Millie!
She’s doing well. Baby steps, I suppose. And sometimes we seem to take two steps forward and about twenty back again but that’s just how it is.
My mother-in-law visited and we were slightly worried as the weather wasn’t too good to sit outside. We thought for sure Millie would just jump behind the sofa again and not come out for hours on end. But we were wrong. She remained in her spot on the sofa and even wandered around sometimes. We took her outside when the sun was out and while she didn’t enthusiastically move around MIL, she didn’t go out of her way to avoid her either. Progress!
A few days ago, we took her out in the car. She jumped into and out of it all on her own, instead of me trying to shove her in there like some prized cow. And she even went walkies. Sure, it was short but again, progress! We’ll take it.
In the meantime, she has another favourite pillow which seems to relax her to the point of looking like she’s on drugs. She just doesn’t always use it properly 🤔🤣
Bookish-wise, I had quite a good month. I managed to complete the 20 Books of Summer challenge, which was a huge surprise considering I was at a grand total of 8 at the start of the month. It’s not that I haven’t been reading over the summer. I read 41 books since the beginning of June. I just didn’t review all of them and so I got into major trouble with the challenge. But like I said, it all ended well. Even if my list is completely unrecognisable from the one I started with. You can find it here with links to all my reviews. Thanks to Cathy for hosting! I’ll definitely be joining in again next year.
WHAT I READ
Would you look at that! A grand total of 18 books read. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had such a great reading month. Clearly I need the deadline of a challenge to get me going. 😂
WHAT I BOUGHT
My objective of buying less book is quite clearly a huge success 😳. But I already read 8 of them so that’s okay, right?

ON THE BLOG IN SEPTEMBER
I’m not entirely sure if there will be anything at all. The other half is home all month. I don’t know how that will affect my reading time so I may just take an extended break. We will see.
I hope everyone has a fabulous month of September and I shall be seeing you when I see you! Happy reading xx
