| ABOUT THE BOOK |

They say every house has its secrets, and the house that Maggie and Nina have shared for so long is no different. Except that these secrets are not buried in the past.

Every other night, Maggie and Nina have dinner together. When they are finished, Nina helps Maggie back to her room in the attic, and into the heavy chain that keeps her there. Because Maggie has done things to Nina that can’t ever be forgiven, and now she is paying the price.

But there are many things about the past that Nina doesn’t know, and Maggie is going to keep it that way—even if it kills her.

Because in this house, the truth is more dangerous than lies.

| MY THOUGHTS |

Hello, dark and twisted tale!

Every house has its secrets and we never know what goes on behind closed doors. This is most definitely true for the house where Nina and Maggie live. Talk about taking a disturbing and dysfunctional relationship to the next level. Maggie spends her life chained up in the attic. It is her punishment for all the wrongs she’s done to Nina in the past. But there are things Nina doesn’t know, things Maggie is determined will never see the light of day.

Things I couldn’t possibly talk about because there’d be no reason for you to read this book anymore. This is one of those stories that’s impossible to review without giving anything away. Everything you need to know is in the book description and all that’s left is to strap yourself into your seat and go on a wild rollercoaster ride.

What Lies Between Us is full of … wait for it … lies. And secrets. And a whole lot of crazy. Tense and full of suspense, I found myself completely glued to the pages. I couldn’t predict the outcome at all but did constantly have this feeling in my bones that it couldn’t possibly end well. Sure, maybe one or two things were a tad on the predictable side and relatively easy to figure out but there were still plenty of other twists to keep me satisfied. And maybe, if I’m being really picky, the story could easily have been at least 50 pages shorter but you know what? It’s not a big deal because ultimately What Lies Between Us is an addictive page-turner that thoroughly entertained me for a few hours and really, these days, what more could you possibly want. It’s the perfect escape from reality!

Right, I’m going to leave it here because I’m way too worried I’ll end up saying something I shouldn’t. John Marrs is definitely an exciting author to keep your eye on, though. You just never quite know what you’re going to get but you do know you’ll be in for a great time when you pick up one of this books.
