This Week in Books (May 20)

Hosted by Lipsy Lost and Found, my Wednesday post gives you a taste of what I’m reading this week. A similar meme is run by Taking on a World of Words.

LAST BOOK I FINISHED READING

No-one knows you better than your family.

They know the little things that make you smile. Your proudest achievements. Your darkest secrets.

Sure, you haven’t always been best friends.

But if it seemed as though someone was after you, that you might be in danger, then you’d be on each other’s side.

Right?

[Twisted to the point of short-circuiting your brain. My review will be up tomorrow for the blog tour.]

THE BOOK I’M CURRENTLY READING

In Poppy Page’s mind, there are two types of women in this world: those who are faithful to their husbands, and those who are not. Until now, Poppy has never questioned which she was.

But when handsome, charming Matthew Gordon walks back into her life after almost two decades, that changes. Poppy makes a single mistake – and that mistake will be far more dangerous than she could imagine.

Someone is going to pay for it with their life.

[Not last week’s poll winner but the month is getting away from me and I’m on the blog tour for this one in a few days so … needs must.]

CURRENTLY LISTENING TO

To the public, a killer who targets paedophiles is a hero. And even the police don’t regard the murders as a priority. Maeve Kerrigan is shocked by the violence inflicted during these kills – the victims were made to suffer. She believes no-one should be allowed to take the law into their own hands. However, as this serial killer’s violence begins to escalate, she is forced to decide how far she’s prepared to go to ensure justice is served.

[Continuing with the Maeve Kerrigan series in audiobook format. Although, since the ball-and-chain is home all week, I doubt I’ll get much chance to listen to this one. 🙄]

WHAT I’M (PROBABLY) READING NEXT

Ed is delighted to meet his twenty-three year old daughter’s fiancé for the first time. Abbey is head-over-heels in love with her new man. Smart, successful and handsome, Ryan appears to be the perfect future son-in-law.

There’s just one problem. There’s something off about Ryan. Something hidden in the shadows behind his eyes. And it seems that only Ed can see it.

Terrified that his daughter is being drawn in by a psychopath, Ed sets out to uncover her fiancé’s dark past – while keeping his own concealed. But no-one believes him. And the more he digs, the more he alienates her and the rest of the family who are convinced that Ryan is ‘the one’.

Ed knows different. For reasons of his own, he knows a monster when he sees one.

[This one was last week’s poll winner so I will be reading this one as soon as I finish my current book.]

What have you been reading this week? Do let me know! Happy reading and stay safe! ❤️

Oh, there are so many! But definitely Karin Slaughter, Ruth Ware, Harlan Coben, John Grisham, to name a few. Have fun discovering the genre!

I’m reading The Catch at the moment and it’s really gripping, I’m begrudging real life whenever it interrupts my reading time! I hope you enjoy it if you do get to it this week. 🙂

You made that sound like a struggle. Are you not enjoying it or did I misinterpret that?

It was a struggle at first, but I am getting into it now. To be fair my head’s been a bit messed up – it was my Dad’s 2nd anniversary on Tuesday.
