I refuse to believe it’s June. Absolutely refuse. I only just got used to writing 2019 everywhere and we’re almost halfway through the year. What is happening?!
Hey, guess what? Weather update! 😉. I am roasting! Out of nowhere, we suddenly have 30°C temperatures today and now I’m impersonating one of those old farts that complain about it being too hot to go outside! There’s just no pleasing me, is there? I have no problems being outside all day in this kind of weather in Italy but here? Not so much.
Speaking of Italy, three months to go and I’m off! Not that I’m counting down or anything.
This week has mostly been spent digging up old Playstation games and having a blast. You might be surprised to hear that I did manage to read though. Not a lot, by my standards anyway but it is what it is and I’m not fretting. Yet.

Three is the new seven (or eight). I’m actually quite enjoying this change of pace and I’m still ten days ahead of the schedule so I will actually have some time to squeeze in one (or two) of my 20 Books of Summer books this week too. As soon as I can decide which one to start with, that is. I just need two or three books in a row to really pull me back in and I’ll be off so watch this space. Might even manage four books read next week 😂

Please tell me it’s obvious that I did make a conscious effort at some point to slow down with the blog tours? 😂 Can I keep it up though?
Question of the week : Likeable versus unlikeable characters. Do they make a difference to your reading experience? For example, Skin Deep by Liz Nugent features the most unlikeable main character ever but it’s one of my favourite books. Some people were put off though. Some people need a likeable character to get behind and I understand that completely. It makes no difference to me though. I often find I lean towards to the unlikeable characters instead because they always intrigue and fascinate me more. Thoughts?
The other half is off with his former army buddies for the day and I have the whole house to myself! I’ll be catching up on some reviews, maybe read a little but most of all, try my hardest not to melt.

Ugh I am melting too 😩 I love a character I can hate! But I’m reading a book atm with a main character who just annoys me and that’s really not on 😒 I’m constantly rolling my eyes and thinking: stop whining and do something useful for a change 🤦♀️ Not the way to spend a sunny Sunday 😂

Ugh, no, I don’t like those kinds of characters either. They can actually really ruin a good story for me, as opposed to unlikeable characters who tend to make things interesting.

We have the opposite problem here in Northern Ireland – it’s so cold and wet! I liked Skin Deep too and thought Delia was a brilliant character!

Is that a typical Irish summer? 😂. If it makes you feel any better, we’re back to the cold and wet today and coming from 32°C yesterday, that really hurts.

If you’re happy with the number of blog tours you’re taking part in – looking forward to those you’ve signed up for but not feeling overly pressured – then you’re in the right place. It does take discipline to say no (or click delete) but I’ve found not feeling like I have to be a reading machine is the important thing.

Still needs work then. I’m always happy about the tours I sign up for. There are just too many and I do feel the pressure although it also seems to make me thrive. But feeling like a reading machine is possibly also what’s responsible for the slumps.

I am also one of those people who moan about it being too hot, it makes me miserable. It must be my Irish and Scots blood 😂

I have a friend in Scotland who starts to moan about it being too hot when it’s barely 23°C and it makes me laugh! 😂

It was too hot here yesterday but now the temperature’s dropped it’s too cold, never happy eh! I like a character I can get behind but I do like a good villain as well.

It always seems to go from one extreme to the other, doesn’t it? We hit 32°C yesterday, now it’s barely 19. I can’t decide what to wear from one day to the next 😂

I roll my eyes so hard at the people who start doing stuff in their garden or even go running in heat like this. Are they mental?! I can barely move from my sofa 😂

Thinking about moving to another country where it’s hot all the time again. I love this kind of weather and it does wonders to my mood. I can love a novel with an unlikable character in the sense of a villain but I hate weak characters getting the main role. Happy reading next week Eva!

Oh, I hear you. I love it too but it feels very different here. It’s like you can’t breathe. I once had 40°C temperatures in Italy and even that felt better than what we had here yesterday.

Eh, I didn’t even break a sweat… There was wind here and the sun hid behind the clouds every ten minutes, perfectly bearable for me 🙂
