20 Books of Summer – 2019

The 20 Books of Summer Challenge is an annual event run by the lovely Cathy, running from June 3rd until September 3rd. Since I nailed it last year, joining in again this year was a total no-brainer. And just like last year, I will be reading these 20 books on top of my other commitments because otherwise it just doesn’t feel enough like a challenge to me. Unless my reading slump continues, in which case I’ll be in serious trouble 😂

So, here are the 20 books on my list. For now. This list has gone through so many changes already and I can’t promise you’ll be seeing these same 20 books again at the end of it all. But that’s okay! Because it’s totally allowed!

In no particular order, with links to Goodreads for your convenience. Reviews will be added as and when they are written. I hope.

What do you think? I’m pretty excited about my list. Apart from two titles that are only there because Janel made me add them 😜.

Who’s joining in this year? The more, the merrier! It’ll be fun! I think 🤣

Wish me luck! xx

Oh, boy, I can’t wait! She’s my favourite author and I’ve had this book on pre-order for months! It didn’t even have a title at the time 😂

Cora Burns is wonderful. I too hope to read Eleanor Oliphant this summer. I finally tracker her down under the spare bed!

Haha! How sneaky of her to hide like that. Good to know I’m not the only one who hasn’t yet read it though!

Good luck, some great choices there. I’m sure Eleanor came out at some stage last year to be read! 😂

You may be correct. 😳. She’s also been on holiday with me two years in a row, only to come back home untouched 😂

That looks more or less like a list I would take on! Except I already read Eleanor Oliphant – surely everyone has read that by now 😉

    Love your list!
Woman in Cabin 10 was brilliant! Bitter Orange wasn’t among my faves, but it does have a proper good summer atmosphere 🙂

This sounds exciting! I liked how you mixed different genres to get things exciting. I loved Woman in Cabin 10. I’ve heard great things about Eleanor Oliphant as well.

I find it much easier to mix things up when joining a challenge like this. The psychological thriller genre especially can be tricky sometimes so if I have the bad luck of ending up with two “meh” ones in a row, I’m already in trouble. 😅

Oooh this is such a cool idea for readathon! I’ve never read any of these books, but there are some titles that I’ve been meaning to get around to for a while. Happy reading!! 🙂

Best of luck with the challenge – you have some great books on your list. The Last Widow is my next read – of course I didn’t realise it was part of the Will Trent series 🤨 Never mind, maybe it’ll catch me up. I enjoyed Tell No-One and am looking forward to The Familiars and The Wayward Girls.

You’ve got some good ones there and there are least a couple that are on my shelf that are long overdue (Seven Husbands, The Familiars)

I admit The Familiars was a last minute addition when I saw Bonnier Zaffre announce her new book on Twitter and I realised I still hadn’t read this one. 😂

It’s one I started and gave up on after ten pages a while ago but I was “in a mood”. Determined to give it another go though because I’m feeling fairly confident it’s totally my thing.

Excellent TBR! May I suggest starting with Evelyn Hugo, Before She Knew Him and Eleanor Oliphant? All three are wonderful reads. Things In Jars and The Woman In Cabin 10 are on my immediate TBR as well and I need to pick up another Slaughter soon, although it might end up being Pretty Girls or Triptych. I hope you will enjoy these! xx

Ah, well, sadly, as brilliant as your suggestions are, my copy of Stuart MacBride’s latest book arrived so that’s the first one I’ll be tackling. Eleanor will probably be somewhere near the end, just to annoy Janel 😉😂

Great list here, Eva! I’ve only read The Woman in Cabin 10 – as I said to someone else who has this on their list (if I’m correct, the lovely Rae Reads) I LOVE Ruth Ware!

Lots on there I want to read, too: The Five, Bitter Orange, The Familiars and The Wayward girls. so I’ll be looking forward to your reviews! Happy reading!

Woah Woah Woah Missy! What do you mean you’re excited for them all APART from the two titles I made you add ~ you should be most excited about those two!!! I don’t know why you’re set on disliking Evelyn and Eleanor, you haven’t even met them yet 😔 Maybe they’re not the problem, and you’re the problem 🤨
