Weekly Wrap-Up (September 30)

weekly-wrap-up

I can’t quite believe I’ve been home for a full week already. Tuscany was glorious and warm as always and I had a wonderful time.

Except for the tiger mosquito plague. I’m not entirely sure why mosquitoes love me as much as they do but I wish they didn’t. I stopped counting at thirty bites and ended up coming home looking like someone suffering from the plague. I had one massive bite on a little toe that sadly meant I was unable to fit into any type of shoe for the first few days.

Now you’d think that being unable to go anywhere meant I was reading up a storm instead on my comfy lounger by the pool. But no. I read a measly two books on holiday. Two! That’s completely unheard of. Even worse, I didn’t miss it. Not for a second. Which, considering I had three tour commitments to fulfil upon my return, meant that I had lost all my carefully collected Zen by Tuesday 😂. (and a nagging husband who couldn’t help but rub in how many books I took with me but never even touched)

This weekly wrap-up is also a monthly wrap-up. So let’s see how hugely unsuccessful my reading was in September.

Books I read this month

That’s right. Count them. I’ll help. It’s nine. 9!!!! In a whole bloody month! Four and a half of those I read this past week in a desperate attempt to catch up. So wrong.

Books I’ve bought this month

Filling a few gaps in my Orenda collection and I couldn’t resist Harriet Monckton.

ARC’s received via Netgalley

Plus one I’m not allowed to talk about yet 😊

Bookpost that landed on my doorstep this past month

I could have sworn I’d taken pictures of these but I can’t find them anywhere so the covers will have to do for now. With thanks to Dome Press (for None So Blind by Alis Hawkins, which isn’t pictured), Transworld, Michael Joseph and Killer Reads.

And that’s it! I haven’t checked out any of your blogs because the mere thought is just too overwhelming to contemplate. But do please feel free to point me in the right direction if there’s anything you really want me to see!

I’m spending the afternoon with my dad, who by now has probably forgotten what I look like because it’s been a while. Hope whatever it is you have planned for today is wonderful and you’re enjoying your weekend.

Wishing you lots of happy reading. Until next time! xx

They so are! There are a few that still haven’t gone completely. Apparently I do have some sort of allergic reaction to them but still. I was covered in the smelliest anti-mosquito spray ever and they still got me! Right through my clothes! Bastards 😄

Tuscany looks wonderful, just a shame about the mozzi bites. If only there could be some plague that only affects mozzis and wipes them out! I get bitten by midges, but for some reason they only go for my legs??? Hope this coming week is less stressful for your reading time

Huh. How odd! They must be extra delicious 😂. I had one on my bum. Like, how or why?! 🤣

I think I’d take those mosquito bites to be beside that pool! 😍
I can’t believe how quick those Kim Stone books are coming out, and I still haven’t even started the series yet! And o yes, I can totally see that you’re not familiar with blog tours 😜

Yikes! I hate mosquitoes. BUT it sounds like you made the most of it and had a great time despite them 😁
Don’t feel too bad about your reading month, you still managed to read more than twice as many as I did lol.

Mosquitoes love me as well. And I had an allergic reaction to something that bit me when I was in Cape Verde earlier this year, so feel your pain!

        Nope! It was horrible 😣
I’ve since found sun lotion and after sun that contain insect repellent, and these worked brilliantly in Majorca – think I had one bite the week I was there! Not sure they’d stand up to more tropical bugs, but for Europe that’s now my go to product 😊

Glad you enjoyed your holiday! It sounds like it was lovely (excusing those pesky mosquitoes).

I’m really intrigued by the ARC you’re not allowed to talk about yet…

Lovely pictures! Sorry about the mosquitoes! We had a lot of them in Greece too, but for some reason they don’t like me as much as they like other people 😀

I can’t wait to read the new Liane Moriarty book and Resin looks pretty cool too!

      Resin is fabulous!

I don’t know what it is about me and mosquitoes. There could be four people in a room and the only one they go for is me. 😂
