On a cold icy morning, a mother wakes to find her daughter’s blood-soaked body frozen to the road. Who would carry out such a horrific killing on the victim’s doorstep?
Straight off her last harrowing case, Detective Erika Foster is feeling fragile but determined to lead the investigation. As she sets to work, she finds reports of assaults in the same quiet South London suburb where the woman was killed. One chilling detail links them to the murder victim – they were all attacked by a figure in black wearing a gas mask.
Erika is on the hunt for a killer with a terrifying calling card. The case gets more complicated when she uncovers a tangled web of secrets surrounding the death of the beautiful young woman.
Yet just as Erika begins to piece the clues together, she is forced to confront painful memories of her past. Erika must dig deep, stay focused and find the killer. Only this time, one of her own is in terrible danger.
Having really enjoyed the previous book in the series, which still remains a firm favourite, I was eager to see where Robert Bryndza would take us next. With this new offering, the author returns to the formula that has made Erika Foster so popular and this series such a huge success.
A young girl is viciously murdered right on her doorstep. Marissa Lewis had her finger in lots of different pies and was hiding a ton of secrets. But who would want her dead? As Erika Foster and her team investigate the case, they quickly find out more women have been assaulted in the area and they all have one frightening detail in common : the attacker wore a gas mask.
The investigation is, as always, gripping and compelling. Robert Bryndza knows how to build up the tension and keep the reader guessing. Deadly Secrets also delves a bit deeper into the team’s personal lives. Erika has to face the past, there are some great domestic scenes involving Moss, and Peterson has a secret of his own. This allows some team members to step a bit more into the spotlight which is never a bad thing.
I absolutely flew through this book, utterly surprised when I reached the end and realised my afternoon was behind me. Deadly Secrets is another great addition to what has been a hugely solid series from the beginning. You might expect a long-running series to lose its lustre after a while, but this one shows no signs up letting up any time soon. If you’re a fan of this series, you will not be disappointed!
Deadly Secrets is published on April 13th and is available for pre-order!

I still have to read the previous one as well… It’s great to see the personal life of Moss, who stole my heart a bit in the first or second novel, is a bit more brought forward again :-). Great review!

Glad you loved it too! I wrote my review last night and will post it tomorrow :). I’m just thrilled to pieces that I started this series and love going into each book without reading the synopsis.

Some descriptions give away way too much information.
