I’m not quite feeling myself these days. Everything and everyone irritates me, I have zero patience and often seem to find myself close to bursting out into tears for no good reason whatsoever. I don’t know if it’s the time of year (although that’s never been an issue before), the horribly cold weather, old age, hormones, the past eight months or so catching up with me, lack of sleep or a midlife crisis! 😱 Do women get a midlife crisis? Am I supposed to go out and buy leather pants and a wee red sports car or a motorcycle? Or find a toy-boy? How does one find one of those anyway? Does Amazon sell them? 😂
Anyway! Thank goodness for books, right? It’s been a pretty good week and I’m ahead of my Goodreads challenge which always makes my competitive streak happy.
Books I read this week
Technically, seven. However, one I abandoned at the 35% mark and one I can’t talk about so that’s not included here. Oooh, intriguing. 😉.
Books I bought this week
I was aiming for none because my kindle is set to explode and my bookshelves are about to collapse. So I bought 8. 😂. Some are pre-orders though. They don’t count, right? And apart from the third one, I already owned the C.J. Carver ones on kindle but I wanted the paperback copies as well. Excuses, excuses.
ARC’s received via Netgalley
I couldn’t request Rachel Abbott’s new book fast enough. The other two, you guessed it, are for blog tours.
Book post received this past week
All set for the blog tour in February, with thanks to Corvus!
On the blog this past week

Next week on Novel Deelights
I may have a few blog tour stops coming up. I know, you’re shocked. Maybe I need an intervention 😂. Watch out for my stops for The Innocent Wife, The Daughter, Liars and The Chalkman. I’ll also be reviewing The Confession.
And that’s it! Best get my reading on. The 100 reviews Netgalley badge is firmly in my sight and I want the precious! Or maybe I should write this backlog of reviews first. Hm.
Wishing you all a great week and lots of happy reading! xx
Hope you are feeling better soon I hate this time of year I find everything such a struggle, I did hear they had a sale on toy boys in Asda might be worth taking a look 😂😂😘

Ooh, splendid! I considered trawling eBay but I don’t want secondhand and damaged goods 😂😂.
Hope you soon find everything less of a struggle too! 😘

I’m trying for the 100 reviews badge as well but I need to review another 20 or so books to reach that. And there is the little matter of reading them first! Hope you enjoy The Good Doctor of Warsaw – it is heart-breaking but compelling.

I need another 10. Two I’ve already read, just need to review them. I’m so close, I can almost smell it 😄. You can do it! I’ll cheer you on! xx

Thank goodness for books, where you can read about other people’s midlife crisis without the effort of having your own. Hope you feel better soon. Xx

Oh no, I don’t read that. I read the murderous ones. They’re quite therapeutic 😉😂

I feel your pain. For me good books and hormones are the best defence against mid January/mid life blues.

I’m glad you’ve found something that helps you through. What would we do without books?!

I mean… Netgalley books don’t count towards acquisitions, right? I have been avoiding the site like a plague until I get all my current ARCs read and up on the blog. I agree with Cathy, those badges can become pretty darn alluring.

Netgalley books don’t count at all, whatsoever, ever! 😄. I’ve been doing the review one, request one tactic. Sort of. I mean, I try. And often fail. But it’s the thought that counts. 😉

When I’m like that (which I am at the minute – close family member in hospital) I tend to spend on books. Resisted so far, but not sure for how much longer!

It’s because of the lack of sunlight! I feel grumpy too and I’ve made up with my colleague last Friday after two weeks of not speaking to each other. She thought I was mad at her and I thought she was mad at me for some reason. My shyness and wanting to absolutely avoid any discussion, I didn’t even ask why she was mad. Seems like we misread each other and I really didn’t hear her say Happy New Year because I already thought she was mad then :-). Oh life.. it’s going to be a great 2018, I can feel it :-). Anyway, if you feel irritated, nothing better to cheer you up than adding a few new books, right? Happy reading!

Oh, Inge! I shouldn’t laugh but I am. Silly, isn’t it, how we can misinterpret things so badly sometimes. Glad you made up though!
I think 2018 is going to suck hardcore. Hope I’m wrong, obviously!
Hang in there, honey. Spring will be here soon. Please. It’s so cold!!!

Don’t remind me of the cold, and wind. I almost flew of my scooter last week in the morning :-). I know it was so stupid, and then we had to catch up with everything and we talked for two hours straight :-). At least there will be good books this year to make it through 🙂

It might be SAD. Personally I like the idea of finding and excuse to buy a motorbike and leathers and say sod it! Hope this week is less grumpy x

😂😂. Me and a motorcycle is an accident waiting to happen. I could try the leathers but have you ever tried to take them off? Nightmare! 😄

Never tried leathers but have seen the Friends episode and that was enough x

Oo I ordered Lullaby! It’s [Instagrams] Criminally Good Book Clubs March book, you should read along with us! Because, ya know, I’m totally offended that you haven’t read along with my book club even once 😂 ….And urgh to being irritated, but I say roll with it, it’s okay to feel that way from time to time, you can’t be happy all the time, Yin and Yang, balance and all that jazz! 🤗

I was honestly wondering when you’d bring that up. 😂
I have excuses though. One is lack of time. Blog tours, don’t you know. 🙄. And also, I don’t really get how it works as a discussion post on IG? Mostly I suck at discussing stuff though. 😄
Sound advice. It’s true. I’m usually the funny, chirpy one but sometimes I’m not and that’s okay. 😘

Check out one of the discussion posts and it’ll all make sense. Or just read the book in March so I feel like you’re taking part 😂

It might if I could even find the discussion post. 🤣😂. But it is on my TBR for March. Just for you. 😉

I had to laugh at the red car comment. Whenever anyone asks what colour my car is, I tell them it’s Menopause Red. Hope you find something to cheer you up – and if you find out where they sell toy boys, don’t forget to post! 😀

you can find most everything on Amazon. i’m sure if you looked hard enough, you might find a boy toy, but i can heartily recommend a motorcycle. i learned to ride at 55 y/o and i had a wonderul time touring the country and put a LOT of miles under my butt. talk about therapy!
