Sophie Whittaker shared a terrifying secret. Hours later, she was dead.
Detective Kay Hunter and her colleagues are shocked by the vicious murder of a teenage girl at a private party in the Kentish countryside.
A tangled web of dark secrets is exposed as twisted motives point to a history of greed and corruption within the tight-knit community.
Confronted by a growing number of suspects and her own enemies who are waging a vendetta against her, Kay makes a shocking discovery that will make her question her trust in everyone she knows.
One To Watch is the third book featuring Detective Kay Hunter and this series just keeps going from strength to strength.
A sixteen year old girl, Sophie, is murdered at a party. With quite a few people in attendance, the list of suspects is long and they all desperately try to hold on to the skeletons in their closets. Why would anyone want to kill a beautiful, innocent young girl? Did Sophie know her killer? It’s up to Kay and her team to find out the truth.
This made such a nice change from the usual stuff I read. It’s not action-packed, there’s no huge number of vicious and horrible murders that make your stomach churn or high-speed car chases. There’s no race against the clock. What we have here is a good old fashioned investigation, talking to people, digging for clues and making the pieces of the puzzle fit to ultimately find the killer. If at any point you think that sounds boring, you’d be so, so wrong. It’s actually incredibly gripping!
Kay’s personal life takes a bit more of a backseat this time around but at the same time, her own private investigation into who is trying to ruin her career is amping up. That whole storyline has me hooked! Just like any other case, I’m trying to figure out who’s behind these shenanigans and what’s going on but I can’t and it’s driving me bananas! I have no doubt it’s leading somewhere amazing though.
Rachel Amphlett is one to watch (see what I did there?) and has once again delivered a brilliant and fast-paced addition to this series. I loved it and it remains right up there amongst all my other favourites.
Many thanks to Rachel Amphlett and Emma Mitchell for my advanced copy and for inviting me on the blog tour!
One To Watch will be published on June 6th.

Nice one, Dee! Sometimes that intriguer is what you need. I actually prefer these to the action-packed stuff. I must try this author.

You should! She has two series. This one is quite character driven than the other one, I think. But I really enjoy this one.
